Rights Reversion & Self-Publishing

Years after a book comes out, the author is often the only person still working to promote it. If you have the ability to regain the rights, self-publishing a new edition gives you the much higher royalties that you deserve. It’s also a chance to make edits, design a cover you love, and create ebook and audiobook editions for older titles.

Katlyn Duncan, thriller novelist and author of Take Back Your Book, sits down with us to give an overview of rights reversion, what to do with your book files, and how to navigate the path of self-publishing your book. Michael Gross, director of legal services at the Authors Guild, will be on hand to provide general advice on contractual matters.

Special thanks to the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi) for collaborating on this event.

Presenter

Katlyn Duncan is a multi-published author of adult and young adult fiction, and has ghostwritten over 40 novels for children and adults. When she’s not writing, she’s obsessing over many (many) television series’, and hanging out on YouTube where she shares her writing process and all the bookish things.

Special Thanks to Our Supporters and Partner Organizations

With support from the National Endowment for the Arts and our donors, the Authors Guild Foundation is pleased to offer this program free to the public.
